DEAR CCS ALUMNI AND FRIENDS,
Fall is slowly coming to Mississippi and I am really enjoying it.
Makes me homesick for Cambridge though.
CHALLENGE
Please, click on REPLY ....type your
FULL NAME, CLASS YEAR AND WHERE YOU ARE LIVING NOW
in the body of the newsletter and then type what you like about the
Fall Season , memories of Fall in Cambridge, or what is happening
now in the Cambridge area in regards to Fall. You can just say...I
love the color of the leaves..... Or I would rather rake leaves than
shovel snow...or anything you want to say.
But first, there is an important annoucement:
Gaile Loomis, Class of 1978
Many of you have now heard that my brother
Eric Loomis,
Class of 1974 fell and hit his head very hard on the pavement at
his home. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple facial
fractures.
He is in ICU (as I write this 9/28/.) Folks have asked where they
can send cards and below is the address:
St. Mary's Medical Center
901 45th St, West Palm Beach, FL 33407
Thank you for positive thoughts and prayers...please feel free to
message me or call me.
Gaile....please tell Eric that many of the CCS Alumni and Friends
Family are praying for him.

CambridgeNY Podcasts
. . . You may have heard that I give presentations on local history.
I've started turning them into podcasts. On Fri 18-Sep I will give
my annual talk to the CCS 4th grades on local history. Point your
browser at this link and click play to listen in . . .
http://kengottry.podbean.com/e/ccs-4th-grade-presentation-18-sep-2015/
Last Fri 11-Sep, I gave
a presentation at Meikleknox (now called the Cambridge Guest Home)
on South Union Street. It included lots of history of Meikleknox,
the McClellan,s and the Hospital. I turned that presentation into a
podcast also . . .
http://kengottry.podbean.com/e/glimpses-of-our-past-cambridgeny/
. . . I wanted to make sure I covered all the salient points so I
wrote down my notes and read from them. Thus this presentation
doesn't have the ad lib flow of my normal talks. It sounds more like
a Ken Burns documentary, factual but a little dry. I think I'll
re-record it when I get a chance.
Ever wonder what's inside the old D&H Passenger Depot? Wonder no
more. It's our Balloons over Cambridge carousel. I think Gerry
Holtzman fixed it up. I know Sara Kelly painted it. Neat, huh?

Hi Pauline, Just wanted to say I don't know Patti Turi, but
as soon as I read about her and the fundraiser in your newsletter, I
signed up, and will continue to do so in the years to follow. I was
able to participate in the event, and I know of at least one other
classmate of mine, Anne Brownell Trinkle who was there as
well!
The 8 miles we covered were no easy task for me... I am blaming that
on the kayak! I definitely had the wrong one. But it was a beautiful
day to be on the river!!
My schedule was very tight, and had to leave shortly after we
finished. I believe that Patti was able to attend the event after
all, but I did not learn this until later. I would love to have met
her.
This is such a tough disease. I have had many exposures to asbestos
over the years in my work and this is something that always lingers
in the back of my mind as I am now through the latency period for
many of them and I get tested regularly. I pray she is doing well.
