Pearl Welling Brownell

Pearl V. Brownell, 83, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at her residence surrounded by loved ones.  Pearl joins her husband, Rodney Brownell in heaven.

Pearl was born in Cambridge March 15, 1936 the daughter of Malcolm and Mary (Welling) Burch.  She was a 1953 graduate of Cambridge Central School.

Pearl worked at several sewing facilities before working at the Mary McClellan Hospital in the housekeeping department. 

Pearl was a member of the South Cambridge Methodist Church and a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange and the Cambridge Valley Senior Citizens.  For many years, Pearl helped with events and activities at the Washington County Fair.  She loved square dancing, card parties and being with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Pearl was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Rodney Brownell whom she married April 3, 1957.  He passed away February 13, 2007; a brother, Tom Cassidy.

Pearl is survived by a sister, Catherine Wilson; sisters-in-law, Lana Cassidy, Cathie Brownell, Martha Brownell; nieces and nephews, Alice Brownell, Darlene Austin, Gary Brownell and Allen Brownell.  Pearl considered her nieces and nephews as her children.  She also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a very special great nephew, Colton Miller and a special cousin, Vera Mae Trinkle.

Calling hours will be Friday, April 26, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge.  A funeral service will begin at 1 pm with Arlene Schmidt officiating.

Interment will be at the Center White Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Pearl may be made to the Cambridge Valley Senior Citizens, 5 Park Place, Cambridge, NY  12816.

A special thank you to June Hommel, Alice Farnsworth, Cindy Labrake, Sally Beelen and Linda Record for all of their care and compassion given to Pearl and her family which allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home.

Pearl was a charter member of the CCS Alumni Association and served on the CCS Alumni Committee since its inception. You would always find Pearl at the Welcome Tent  at the All Classes Reunions each year.  She was a dedicated worker and a sweet lady.  We will miss you, Pearl!!!
