Margaret "Peg" Peters

 

Margaret "Peg" Peters passed away on Friday, September 8th at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on January 19, 1950, daughter of Marcia (Chase) and William Peters. She was a 1968 graduate of Cambridge Central School and joined the United States Air Force in 1969.

She worked at the Hoosick Falls Country Club, as well as the Pro-Shop in Avon Park in Florida and waitressed in local restaurants.

She enjoyed doing many crafts, quilting, was a great cook and loved to play golf.

Peggy is survived by two daughters; Jennifer Labre and husband Jeff of Arizona and Marcia Kolinger and husband, Brian of Wisconsin, two sisters; Patricia Slater of Cambridge, NY and Dorothy Caloia and husband, Raphael of York, PA, one brother, William Peters and wife, Patty of Hoosick Falls, and her companion of 40 years Edward R Meaney (Ray) who resides at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington and his family, Michael and Doreen Meaney of Bennington and Colleen Vandal of Wallingford, CT. Peggy is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both parents and a nephew.

She and Ray would spend the summers at the Babcock Lake Camp and resided in Avon Park, FL the rest of the year.

Peggy was a very selfless person, never wanting anybody to fuss over her and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours or Funeral Services, per her request. A private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

The family would like to thank the entire staff for the wonderful care she received during her stay at the Vermont Veterans Home.
