Leonard Arnold Finning

Leonard Arnold Finning, 72, a resident of Center Falls Rd., passed away Wednesday July 5, 2023 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born October 22, 1950 in Troy, NY to the late Lawrence John and Mary Ella Arnold Finning.

Len joined the Marines out of high school and was honorably discharged in 1971. He later went on to work for New York State DMV and retired from the law division. He continued to work on vehicles and to sell used vehicles. He enjoyed being able to find real gems for family and friends. He also dabbed a bit in real estate.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Heather Rae(Tim) Spendiff; and brothers, Alan Carey and George Carey.

Survivors include his wife, Maureen Kratzer and her children, Jean Marie (Bryan) McCormack and their son Callum, and Jonathan Kratzer; his son by his first wife, Cory Finning and his daughter, Zoe; and his grandson, Cody; his sisters, Lorna Finning, Linda (Pat) Kelley, Lari Ann (Mike) Hayes, Tricia (Rick) Warner; his brothers, Daniel Cary, Tom (Dorrie) Steeg, and Martin (Kathy) Paro, Jim (Sue) Whitten, Rob (Maria) Whitten and Rich (Vanessa) Whitten; aunts, Lynn Hogan and Marion Hupe; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the family.

If Leonard knew you, he would help you if he could. Heck, he’d help you if he didn’t know you. I’m certain that there will be a lot of stories about his generosity shared with his family. Len never met a stranger. He’ll be greatly missed and held in our hearts forever.

At Leonard’s request, there will be no calling hours.

He will be interred in the wall at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery following his military service at 10am Friday, July 14, 2023.

A celebration of his life will also be held at the Cambridge American Legion on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 1pm.
