Born 12/18/1944 in Winsted, Cn.
Kate started school at St. Mary’s Academy Hoosick Falls, NY. Transferred to Cambridge Central School in
Junior High, where she graduated in 1962. She was a cheerleader and participated in numerous school activities.
During her high school years, Kate was a summer camp counselor in upstate NY and worked part time in her
family's business, the Town House Restaurant.
Kate graduated from Trinity College Burlington, Vt. where she received her BA and teaching certification.
She taught at Cambridge Central from 1967-68, followed by several years at Granville Central School. Kate
continued her education at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, where she achieved her Master’s Degree in
Psychology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then went on to teach special needs and gifted students in
the Tri City area. In 1978 she relocated to Houston Texas where she worked for SYNTEX Laboratories for 12.5
Years, during which time she received numerous Highest Regional Performance Awards and the prestigious Top
Representative of the Year Award. While living in Texas, she pursued a degree in Shakespearean Literature.
In her retirement she relocated to Virginia, where she continued to enjoy theatre, gardening and travel. For those
25 years, Kate traveled extensively in the US, Europe, and South America. She was a regular visitor at her
parents' homes in Murray Hollow, Shushan, NY, Lake Champlain, and Florida. In 2003 Kate was relocated to
Florida, where she was surrounded by family, caregivers and friends who cared for her after continuous health
issues severely impacted her life. She courageously fought to survive until the end.
Kate passed on Friday August 29, 2025, surrounded by her family, at South Port Health Care Facility in Port
Charlotte, Florida, where she had recently been visited by her dear friend Charles Clark Jr. and longtime
caregiver and friend Paulette Brennan. She’s predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Genevieve Meagher of
Murray Hollow, Shushan NY, brother Matthew Meagher and his son John of Lake Havasu City, Az, and Janet
Meagher Glowacki of Gates Mills, Ohio. She is survived by her brother Michael (Ellen) Meagher, as well as her
sister Mary Meagher, of Port Charlotte, 8 nieces and nephews, their spouses and families.
A memorial Mass will be performed for Kate at St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge at 9am on July 15,2026. She
will be laid to rest in the family plot in Bennington Park Lawn Cemetery.
