Josephine Wallace Brundige

CAMBRIDGE/ARGYLE - Josephine "Jo" (Wallace) Brundige, 89, died early Sunday morning, December 3, 2023 at the Home of the Good Shephard Moreau, South Glens Falls.

Jo was born on February 3, 1934 to John A. and Elizabeth (Coulter) Wallace in Cambridge, NY. She graduated from Cambridge Central School in 1950, received her BA from Houghton College in 1954, and went on to complete her Master of Science and Elementary Education at SUNY Oneonta in 1957.

She had a long teaching career of over 30 years, mainly at Greenwich Central School, from which she retired in 1989.

Jo married the love of her life, J. Merritt Brundige, Jr. in August of 1956. They were long-time residents of Cambridge and Argyle where they raised their two children. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage until Merritt's death in 2020.

They were both long time members of the First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls and were dedicated to the support of education and missions through the church's' outreaches. Jo was a gifted organist and pianist, sharing her talents and love of music with her church family for many years. She also taught Sunday School and Women's Bible Study, directed the church choir on occasion, and loved to accompany singers and instrumentalists.

Besides her parents and husband, Jo was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Wallace Bates, and her son, Daniel M. Brundige.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Laurie B. Beck (Greg) of Lawrenceville, GA; her sister-in-law, Rosiland Bates of Cambridge, NY; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family is grateful to the staff at the Home of the Good Shephard Moreau for their care and support.

Family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to the time of the Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls, 1721 US-9, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial to be private and at the convenience of the family at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.
