Jonathan  "Jay" Spicer

Jonathan "Jay" Robert Spicer, 35 of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly Saturday August 8, 2015 at his residence.
Jonathan was born in Teaneck, NJ. He was the son of Gail Lee Hartman Spicer of Cambridge and late Robert H. Spicer.

Jay Graduated in 1998 from Cambridge Central School and received his Associates Degree in Auto technology from Hudson Valley Community College.

Jay worked at the Hannaford Troy store in the meat department during school and upon graduating, he worked at King's Car Care before opening his own shop, Spicer's Car Care until the time of his accident.

He loved to work on cars and trucks especially his "Dodges". Enjoyed 4-wheeling, many a day the trucks would be out back in the "Mud Pit" or off to grease rock. When younger, he raised Dorset sheep and showed them at the Washington County and Schaghticoke Fair Grounds all through school. He also showed his prize winning sheep at the Big E in Mass. He sheared sheep for local farms. Jay raised Australian Shepherds, and so loved his fur babies. Cooking was another passion of his. He always wanted to feed everyone. Help from him was only a phone call away. But the love of his life came with spending time with his 2 daughters.

He was a member of the Cambridge Corner Stone East Church and had shown his Love and Devotion to Jesus by being baptized the previous Sunday at Lake Lauderdale. He volunteered for the Cambridge Food Pantry and had cooked on occasion for the Friday lunches. He also helped with New Life's Food ministry until it's closure.

Jay was a member of 4-H and FFA during high school. He reached the highest level in FFA and in the 4-H sheep program and was a master showman in the sheep ring.

In addition to his mother Gail, Jonathan is survived by his companion, Deanne Eriksen, 2 daughters Abigail Samantha Alice Spicer and Lillian Phebie Spicer, all of Cambridge; 2 brothers, Duane Spicer of Hartford and Allan Tobin of Catskill; a nephew, Dylan Spicer of Hartford and other family in Cambridge and New Jersey.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday August 22nd at 4PM at the Cambridge Food Pantry and Christian Outreach Center, 59 South Park Street (Rt 22), Cambridge with Pastor Jim Bartholomew, his pastor and dear friend, officiating. Bring a Jay story to share.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone East Church c/o of James Bartholomew, 59 Park Street, Cambridge, to help defray Jonathan's final expenses.
