Clarence "Gene" Eugene Tucker, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed away at his home on June 3, 2024.
Born on January 4, 1938, in Caneadea, NY, to the late Robley and Ruth Magee Tucker.
Gene was a man of incredible resilience, integrity, and spirit. His story was one of hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication, having left formal education after grade school to be schooled by life itself. The fruits of his labor are evident in the legacy he leaves behind, including the successful McCauley-Tucker Oil Company in Salem, NY, which he co-owned and operated for over 30 years.
Gene's life was not just about work and success. He was a man of faith, serving as an Elder at his church, Shushan Presbyterian. He was known for his generosity and jovial spirit. Gene loved to travel, particularly with his wife, Betty, with whom he explored Europe over ten times. Blessed with a photographic memory, he could recount every trip in minute detail, his stories captivating all who listened. His love for his family was boundless, particularly for his daughters, to whom he was devoted. He was also a mechanical whizz who loved fixing and improving things around the house, earning him the affectionate title of "Mr. Fixer Upper."
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Betty (VanBramer) Tucker; his daughters, Janine (Michael) Dubois, Jeana (Earl) Hoyt and Mary (Jon) Braymer; his grandchildren, Susan (Dan) Folks, Michael Dubois, Melissa Dubois, Kelly Dubois, Sean Grinvalsky, Alice Hoyt, Hannah Hoyt, Katelyn (Matt) Braymer-Hayes, Daniel (Emilee) Braymer, Ryan Braymer, Matthew Braymer, and Andrew Washburn; his great-grandchildren, Cora, Joseph, Hudson, Cameron, Jonah, and Theodore; his brother, Tom Tucker and son-in-law, Tim Washburn.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Washburn, and granddaughter, Sarah Dubois as well as siblings, Charmaine, Norma, Loren and Charlie.
The family wishes to thank Saratoga Community Hospice nurses, Lisa and Tracy, for their excellent care of Gene over the past several months.
