Eleanor Sutherland Brown

Salem-Eleanor Brown, 94, of Salem, formerly of Cambridge and was the last of five children of Graham & Pearl Sutherland, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side.

Her brothers, Gardiner, Arnold, Earl and a sister, Irene passed away before her as well as her husband, Stewart; a son Gary and a daughter, Brenda Meyers and a son-in-law, Phillip Clark.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Lana Clark; granddaughters, Lisa Clark, Michelle Scarselletta, Lori Bishop and Stacey Loya; her seven great grandchildren, Joe & Jake Bishop, Trevor & Hayly Morrison, Greg & Kayla Scarselletta and Zach Clark and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was interested in painting and creating things from wood. She often said if she had been taught how to paint, it would take the thrill out of it. Each painting or portrait she did, she considered it a part of her.

She had worked at Reis Mill in Cambridge for twenty years.

At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Rather than sending a card, please do something nice, donate to a food pantry, drop off dog food to a shelter, buy a cup of coffee for an elderly person, or whatever else helps someone and makes you feel good. She would love knowing that so many kindnesses were done in her Memory! #goodness4gram

In addition to the #goodness4gram acts that were suggested, some of you have asked where you can make a donation in her memory.

Each year Granddaughters Lori Clark Bishop and Lisa Clark sister,  walk to end Alzheimer's on Muzzy's Team in honor of their Mother Lana Brown Clark.   If you would like to support this cause, please use this link:

While Eleanor had no symptoms of dementia, it pained her to watch her daughter Lana suffer with Alzheimer's.
Thanks for all of your prayers, love and support.

Funeral services will be at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge for the immediate family with Carol Finke of the Shushan United Presbyterian Church officiating.
