David C. English

David C. English,72, a lifelong resident of Easton passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family and being held by his wife Donna.

David Charles English was born to Benjamin Wright English and Arlene Eddy English on October, 10, 1943 at Mary McClellan Hospital.

David graduated from Cambridge Central School in 1962, and attended Cobleskill College after high school. On March 3, 1963 David married Donna Slocum from Easton, together they started English Hill Farm. In addition to working on the farm and being very mechanical, David drove school bus for 42 years for the Greenwich Central School. David was very proud of being the Town of Easton Highway Superintendent. Until David got sick, working from 6 am to when the job got done was customary.

David never missed a tractor pull at the Washington County Fair, he made many friends throughout the years through this and enjoyed many county fairs. David enjoyed the various auctions and visiting with neighbors.

David also enjoyed the many activities of his grandchildren and was very proud of each and every one of their accomplishments.

In addition to his father Benjamin English he was predeceased by his in-laws Katherine and John Slocum Sr.; brother-in-law's John Slocum Jr. and Ed Levine and a niece, Angela English.

Survivors include his loving wife Donna (Slocum) English; children Julie (Bruce) Alsante of Easton, Ben (Amie) English of Greenwich, Brian (Wendy) English of Buskirk, and Janelle (Doug) Moore of Greenwich; mother Arlene English of Hoosick Falls; 11 grandchildren ranging from 27 years to 4 months, Katie (Mike White) English, Brianna (Matt Degregory) English, Maria (Tommy Guilder) Kalbfliesh, Nacia (Jon Devries) Kalbfliesh, Clint (Courtney) English, Alex Kalbfliesh, Maxwell (Emilee Boddery) English, Ethan English, Thomas English, Jacob and Dawson Moore; 3 great grandchildren Daniel, Audrianna, and Carter; 3 step grandchildren; siblings Donna (Don) Kratzenburg of Utica and Donald (Paddi Krauss) English of Cambridge; sister-in-law's JoAnne (Carl) Trinkle of Cambridge and Karen Levine of Virginia Beach; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Friday, February 12, 2016 at Burton Hall, 1071 State Route 40, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Virginia Cornell officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Burton Hall, 1071 State Route 40, Greenwich, NY, 12834


The family would like to thank Albany Medical Center Neurological ICU, Glens Falls Hospital especially Dr. Mihindu and also the staff at Wesley Health Care for the care he received at these facilities. The family would also like to thank Fort Hudson Home Care, especially Krista, Kelly, Penny and other staff that provided our husband and father care with dignity

The family would also like to thank the many family and friends that have been with us on this journey.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to the Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad or the Greenwich FFA Chapter care of Greenwich Central School.
