Dale Motsiff

March 10, 1963 - December 14, 2022

Buskirk-Dale had a lifelong love of bicycles. He was a creative soul who enjoyed lifelong learning above all else. He was a reader of everything, but fiction.

He was often seen at home fermenting apple cider into alcohol, installing a new motherboard on his computer, or making graphics for bicycle shorts he was designing. He made patterns for leather jackets or a myriad of other projects he had going at one time. He was certainly never bored. He lived simply and enjoyed the things he loved to do. Learning was a big, big part of that.
He also loved cooking gourmet food at home.  Asian cuisine was his favorite.   Making a Thai penang curry pizza was always a fave.  He often included Jasmine rice on the pizza.  Another fave was lo mein with homemade noodles.

On a whim, he'd ride his bicycle the 189 miles between his apartment in Brooklyn to his parents’ house in White Creek, (or to visit friends in the Albany area).  The first time he tried the ride, he made it to Lebanon, NY before he bonked (His blood sugar went to zero).  He had to call his sister-in-law to pick him up. All other times he tried the ride, he made it to his destination in well under 11 hours with lots of food stops to fuel him.  Also in cycling, he was a bicycle road racer and a former New York State champion. (1984 in the time trial discipline) He was also the Southern California and Nevada State champion. (1995 in the criterium discipline, which he loved.) Along the way, he won well over 60 races, with numerous 2nd or 3rd places.

He worked for a dot com company, testing software through software which he wrote himself at GERS, Inc. in San Diego, CA.  He discovered he didn't like the corporate environment and never worked in one again!
Dale's real passion was making custom fitted bicycle clothing in New York City.  He excelled in graphic design and loved designing logos for his bike clothing.

Dale is the son of Joy Motsiff of Buskirk, NY and the late Harry "Tim" Motsiff.  He is also survived by his two younger brothers, PJ of Glens Falls and Deane (Sue) Motsiff of Buskirk.  He has 1 niece and 5 nephews, as well as a great niece and a great nephew.
