I am not sure of Ken Gottry will be the recipient of this email, but I
wanted to tell him that I thoroughly enjoyed this email. I lived in
Cambridge from birth in 1957 and moved to CT in 1972.
Even though I did not graduate with my Cambridge
friends in 1975, I have stayed in touch with many of them over the years.
I loved Cambridge then and still do. My sister Joyce and brother Mike did
graduate from CCS. If I remember correctly, I think your father must have
driven my bus (Lake Lauderdale) for a year or so.
The piece on Dot Burch Benson was surprising. Her
son, Len is one of mybest friends, so I spent a lot of time with the
Bensons. I cannot recall ever hearing about her 72 point game, but I do
recall that she did play basketball. Dot was like a second mother to me in
some ways. I miss her.
Back in 2000 my wife and I bought some land near Lauderdale so that I
could still be somehow attached to my beloved town of Cambridge.
Thank you for the very interesting letter. I love Cambridge history.
Keep it coming my way.
Best regards,
Dave Bellemare

Hi Ken
This is Melanie Pancoast--maiden: Falkenbury, class of '79. Jane Wright is
my sister.
I loved your first newsletter...Great Job!! I think it is amazing that you
do this each year with the 4th graders. I knew about the railroad cars for
the trees but the rest of that information was never even mentioned (that
I remember anyway). I did great in school but History/Social Studies was
my least favorite subject.
June will be 30 years since I graduated from CCS and I just can't believe
it. I keep in contact with a few of my classmates--not enough, never
enough. I am hoping that, with a few emails, a lot of the class will show
up for the reunion in July. My work schedule has never allowed me the
freedom to come...but I am hoping to get the request in this January for
those days in July. My mom sold our house on North Park Street in 2002(we
lived right across from the O'Connors) and I have not been back to
Cambridge since then. I make it to Albany to see my sisters and Saratoga
to visit Mom, but just haven't made that other trip. You have made me want
to come back more than ever now and see the changes.
Keep up the wonderful job...no offense to Pauline by this.
Until next time...Melanie
Pauline"s Note: No offense taken!! I
think Ken is doing a fantastic job!!
