Ken Gottry's new history book Around Cambridge, White Creek, and Jackson will be released by Arcadia Publishing on November 8. Its publication celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Cambridge Patent (1761-2011).Battenkill Books has scheduled Ken for a talk and book signing on Saturday November 13 at 4pm in the Freight Depot Theater (see link below).

Also, Ken will present a 4-part lecture series on local history at the Cambridge Public Library. The first talk, focusing on the history of the village, will be on Friday October 22 at 7:30pm. The second talk, covering  local school history, will be on Friday October 29 at 7:30pm. The remaining talks will be scheduled during the winter.

Much of the material in the talks and in the book was collected by Ken’s father during his decades as village, town, and church historian.  Ken also draws from newspaper articles written by his mother while she served as local news correspondent for over 25 years. Other material comes from Dave Thornton, the village archives, and the library history section.

Ken calls himself a raconteur not a historian. His facts and photos are accurate but his main love is the stories that surround them. So bring the entire family and be educated and entertained as Ken brings our local history to life. Also, check out the many of his history presentations on Ken's website (www.gottry.com).
