Happy New Year to all the CCS Alumni and Friends!
196 days left until the 2010
ALL SCHOOL REUNION (July 16)!
Here we are at the end of the decade...the beginning of a new year.
On TV, I keep seeing lots of wrap up of the decade.. So I thought I
would give you a few of the changes in CCS ALUMNI AND FRIENDS
When we started in October 2004, it was just a few members of the
Class of 1963. Early in 2005, Linda Lufkin Taylor started
communication between me and the Alumni Association. The first
combined effort was the reunion held July 23, 2005. The Alumni
Committee( Pearl Welling Brownell ‘53, Mike Baratto ‘62, Bev Thomas
Currier ‘58, Linda Lufkin Taylor ‘62, Betty Jeskie White ‘55, , Dick
Record ‘59, Linda McMorris Record ‘59) did the work with lots of
help from Glendon White and Tim Taylor. I just used my growing
email list to help get the word out.
Now.... 2010... There are 557 alumni, 42 former students and 6
teachers who have sent in information for their personal pages.
This news letter is sent to 778 alumni and friends.
The web site has 7314 files, 435 folders and is 201.5 megs in size.
The Alumni Committee has changed:
President: Ken Gottry (1968)
Vice President
Linda McMorris Record (1959))
Secretary
Mary Lee Kent (1958)
Treasurer
Linda Lufkin Taylor (1962).
Assistant Treasurer
Diane Bennett Tully (1969)
Active Members
Pearl Welling Brownell(1953)
Betty Jeskie White(1955)
Beverly Thomas Currier (1958)
Wayne Laverty(1958)
Mary Hallock (1976)
We now have Class Representative for almost all the
classes. These Reps have been instrumental in getting class mates
to submit information for their personal pages. Does your class
have a rep?
Check here:
The emails that are sent to you are to keep you
informed...with good or bad news. It is so sad to hear of the
passing of alumni and when you receive several in a short period of
time, it is depressing. It is hard to send out those emails, but it
seems to be a comfort to the family and friends involved and that
makes me feel that I have done something for them. I want to thank
Elizabeth Ross at Ackley and Ross and others for keeping me
informed so I can pass the news on to you.
During a recent illness, I
was "our of pocket" for 10 days. I realized that I needed someone
else to be able to get news out to you.I asked Ken Gottry to be there
to help me out in the future in case there was news you need to know .
There is a section which I wish more of you would use. It is Have
Your Say
http://ccsindians.Com/haveyoursay.htm You can say what is on
your mind. I enjoy getting your emails with comments about something
on the website or in the news letter but I wish you would share some
of these with everyone. Now, you all know that some people get a bit
carried away and that is where I will use my "edit" authority. I do
no allow foul language or bad mouthing
other alumni or teachers.
The best interactive
section of the website is SMOKE SIGNALS. It has been sort of slow
lately and we sure would like more of you to chime in.
http://smokesignals.olicentral.Com Thanks to Mick Kent (Class of
1960) for buying this program and moderating it for us.
The Alumni Association
and CCS Alumni and Friends, has grown tremendously in just 6 years.
Dick Record would really be proud of what he and Linda started. I
can't begin to tell you how many emails I get from people who found
friends and relatives through this effort. The younger generations
don't understand now, the importance of all this but as they have
heard MANY times, "Wait until you get my age!" I am really pleasantly
surprised as to the number of recent graduates are on the mailing
list and have personal pages on line. Thank you so much for your
participation.
I hope you will check out
the Index of Personal Pages to see how many of your friends and family
have personal pages. If you see that a member of your family, who
went to CCS, has not filled out the questionnaire please
encourage them to do so.
Alumni Graduates Questionnaire
Former Student Questionnaire
(you attended CCS but did not finish at CCS)
TEACHER'S QUESTIONNAIRE You have taught or
are teaching at CCS.
If you have a personal
page, please check it out and see if the information is up to date.
It is better to put the year your children where born than their
ages. I can't seem to keep up with when they become a year older. If
you have pictures you want on your page, send them to me.
I appreciate those who let
me know when I have made mistakes and/or corrected me on things I have
posted or emailed. If you find a link that is not working, a spelling
error...any kind of mistake, please let me know.
I LOVE THE ALL SCHOOL
REUNIONS!!! We have so much fun! This has really grown... a 3 day
event now. I would personally like to see more of the local CCSers
attend but I really appreciate all those who are involved and put so
much work into the reunions. I figure you think that since you live
in the area and might see other CCSers on a regular basis, why bother
attend the reunion. Well, those of us from out of town haven't seen
you regularly and in some cases, it has been years!!! I would like to
hear from you...let me get some idea of why you don't want to
attend...who knows maybe we can change things more to your liking.
Hey, give us a chance to try, okay?
Remember...just 196 days left until the 2010 All School
Reunion
I have made the statement
several times that I am the Queen of this newsletter and website.
Some have not thought that was funny. Let me clarify the situation.
First, there would be no website or newsletter at all if you
did not participate. I am in Rienzi, Mississippi....we
are lucky to have the internet!!! I could not possibly put on this
web site without information, suggestions, pictures, etc from
you. The Alumni Association allows me to represent them and
call the web site the Official Home of the CCS Alumni Association. I
own the web site, the domain name and am the sole person responsible
for what goes on the web site. I really love doing the web
site and newsletter. The Alumni Committee has helped me by
flying me to the past Annual Reunions. I am so very grateful for
that!!!!! I am also very grateful to my cousin Raz Macauley and his
wife Pam for allowing me to call their house my Cambridge home. (I'll
be back in 196 days!!!)
Again, I wish all of you a
Very Happy and Blessed New Year and I hope to see a lot of you in 196
days. In the meantime, I hope you will continue to help us with the
growth of the Alumni Association and the web site.
Until next time
Pauline
