Hi Fellow CCSers,
March is the month the Alumni Association has set aside for
the Annual Scholarship Fund Drive. Please read about it here: http://ccsindians.com/Scholarship/funddrive.htm
Quoted from that page: "Our annual scholarship drive is the month of March
each year. No tricks, no gimmicks, nothing to attend, no cookies or cakes to
buy! We are simply asking you to send a check for $5.00 made out to the CCS
Alumni Scholarship Fund to the Association. Remember you are simply being
asked. This is not a minimum or a maximum, but it is a good place to start.
Any amount you send will be greatly appreciated"

FROM KEN GOTTRY
Cambridge Historic District
During the 1976 Bicentennial celebration, the Village of Cambridge submitted
a nomination form to the National Registry of Historic Places. I placed the
photos and documentation on my website.
You can point your browser at this website (http://WWW.gottry.Com/CambridgeHistoricalDistrict).
You'll see two links: one for the photos, one for the text. If you click on the
links, you can view online the photos and read the text. If instead you
right-click on the link, you can pick Save Target As to download a copy of the
PDF to your computer. The PDF of photos is large (8MB) and may take a few
minutes to download. My website isn’t all that powerful.
Old Oaken Bucket
Tom McMorris ’70 attended the Cambridge-Salem wrestling match on 19-Jan-2010
at which the Old Oaken Bucket was presented. Remember that? Well, we’re looking
for any stories about it and about its origin.
I remember it being in the showcase outside (principal) Charlie Bower’s
office. I thought it was awarded to Cambridge or Salem each year based on who
won the most inter-school athletic matches. Back in my day (1968) that would
have been 1 football game, 2 boys’ basketball games, 1 wrestling match, 1 track
meet, and 2 baseball games. Funny, though, I don’t recall ever seeing a
presentation ceremony (maybe we never won it when I was there ;-)
Tom found some information about it and placed it on his website along with
the video of the wrestling match (go to http://www.mcmorrisphoto.com and click
on News). I believe the plaque on the bucket says 1956-57. Anyone know who
donated it or to commemorate what?
QUESTION:
As you head north on Route 22 past Dead Pond, there is Andrews Road that goes
into the northeast side of Hedges Lake. At the corner of Andrews Road and Route
22 there is a long, gray building. Didn't that use to be a restaurant? Harvest
Moon, or something like that? Anyone have any info on this place?

LOOKING FOR COPIES THE ORANGE AND BLACK REVIEW.
From Howard Romack
If anyone has copies of the C.C.S. newspaper, please be assured that if you
can send them to me (Howard Romack, 28 Irish lane, Cambridge, N.Y. 12816)I will
return them, and the postage, as soon as I have used them in a school board
meeting. We have no school newspaper as such, and copies of the old ones would
be helpful in illustrating what kids did in the past.

The response to Nicole and Frank Klebieko's purchase of the former Mary
McClellan Hospital has been remarkable!! The Facebook Fan Page has reached 746
fans in 3 weeks!!!!! I am very pleased to say that Nikki has given me
permission to put the pictures on our website that Frank has taken of the
hospital. I hope to get them up within the next few days. I am not the only
one who is loving the posts made by people about the hospital and nursing
school. Stories from people who were born there, worked there, was a nurse
there....wonderful comments!!!!
Please keep checking the web site for updates on the reunion planning.
Until next time
