The Alumni
Basketball Tournament was held on the 26th and
27th of December. This year we had another
strong turnout with 50 + players and a good number of
spectators. As usual the teams were broken down by year of
graduation. We had four teams that were clusters of
relatively close graduation years. This year the
youngsters won the tournament in convincing fashion. This
talented group won the championship game by a score of
57-47.
The winning
team consisted of Cameron Herrington, Jeremiah Andrew,
Tyler Herrington, Taylor Robertson, Abe Andrew, Francis
Anderson, Sam Woods, Zach Luke, Ben Nakgeboren, Keith
Diotte, Ben Holcomb, Mike Furfuro, and Spencer Luke.
The awards
banquet was once again very well attended. The food and
drink seemed to be enjoyed by all. The awards and annual
raffle followed dinner.
This year’s awards winners were;
Ben Nakgeboren won
the John Luke MVP award,
Jason
Hamilton won the Jim Frazier Sportsmanship award,
and
Jim Barnewall won the newly instituted Dick Record
Lifetime Achievement award. The award winners are selected
by secret ballet from all the players at the banquet.
Brent Dupras once
again did a great job organizing and running the event. We
are all very appreciative of his efforts. Brent made
special recognition of the new award in honor of Dick
Record. He spoke of the many ways that Dick has been
supportive of sports and many other community events and
efforts. This new award was very well received by the
crowd. Each year it will be awarded to someone who has
shown a longevity and commitment to the tournament.
